Horticultural grade perlite's unique characteristics make it an excellent soil amendment and general horticultural medium. Horticultural perlite is produced by heating a unique crushed siliceous volcanic rock in special furnaces. Heat causes the crude rock to expand from 4 to some 20 times its original size.

The white perlite granules are the result of the expansion of combined water vaporizing in the crude mineral and forming enclosed air pockets. Because of the great quantity of air in these pockets, the product is very light and has excellent physical qualities for use in plant propagation. The physical properties of the product also further enhance its use in horticulture. It is inorganic, sterile, and safe to handle and has no odour. We offer Strong Lite Horticultural Perlite in medium and coarse grades.
